Catfish & World Record Java Barb

World record Java Barb on a flyAt our superb 50 acre clearwater lake where we sight cast to the fish, the Catfish swim with the Java Barb shoals and feed with them on the surface. The catfish is not designed to feed on the surface and experiences difficulties getting the food / fly into it’s mouth. It will often make several attempts before it takes the fly.

On this occasion the catfish made a failed attempt to take the fly. While the catfish was circling below, a smart (or not so smart) Java Barb seized the fly. After a brief fight, the Java Barb weighed in on IGFA certified scales at exactly 5 lbs. Breaking the IGFA all tackle world record of 4 lbs 10 oz. The record is not being claimed because it was an accidental catch using a 13 wt rod for catfish !!!

Thailand Barramundi flyfishingBARRAMUNDI

A recent 20 lb. Barramundi from our private premier pond. The Barra are in great form. Our other pond produced 12 fish from 7 to 12 lbs for a husband and wife fishing for only three and a half hours. To her husbands delight and amazement, his wife caught a 7 lb. Barra with the first cast of the day.
